Dexter Revival’s Jamie Chung Briefly Discusses New Show And Why Fans Should Be Hopeful

A revival of Dexter is in the works, and one of its new characters is Molly Park, a true-crime podcaster. Jamie Chung plays Molly, and now she’s shared a little more insight into the revival, saying it’s going to deliver on what fans are hoping to see.

Original showrunner Clyde Phillips is returning, and this is great news, Chung said to The Hollywood Reporter. “Yeah, in essence, it’s exactly what Dexter fans want,” she said. “The character of Molly Park is so fun and vibrant. And true-crime podcasting is a fairly new medium in terms of true crime, and introducing that into Dexter’s world is another threat to revealing his identity. So it’s been really fun. Really fun.”

In 2013, Phillips revealed his pitch for the ending to Dexter had he stayed with the show for Season 5-8, and it involved something very incredible-sounding. Chung said Phillips “sticks to his word” when it comes to how he plans to end the show this time, which is intriguing to think about.

“He’s also one that does not budge when it comes to his vision. So I think he’s going to do exactly what he wants to do. Eight or nine years ago, I did an interview that asked, ‘What would be your dream role?’ And I mentioned, ‘It’s sad because it’s never going to happen with Dexter coming to an end, but just to be on a show of that calibre–and with that talent–would be a dream.’ So I guess I was really putting it out there.”

In other news, it was recently announced that John Lithgow is coming back to reprise his Trinity Killer character for the Dexter revival.

Joining Michael C. Hall (who plays antihero Dexter) and Clancy Brown (who will be playing the new main villain)–also known as Mr. Krabs on SpongeBob–will be Julia Jones (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe), and Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird). Thanks to a new teaser that was released back in April, we know that the Dexter revival will hit Showtime sometime later this year.
